July 27 in Hutchinson is shaping up to be a full day of events in Hutchinson, making it a great day to visit.
The second annual BBQ cook-off is happening in downtown Hutchinson July 27. It will be in DCI Park, located at 2nd and Main Street. The competition will include three meats this year – Ribs, Pork Butt, and Brisket. Beginning at 1 p.m., tasting tickets will be available for $1 per sample.

Take some time in the late afternoon to shop downtown. You’ll find an assortment of antique and specialty stores including Smith’s Market, Fashionista, and two independent bookstores – Bluebird Books and Bookends.
This is the only place in the western hemisphere where you can go into a working salt mine. It’s a unique place to host these cowboy musicians who have performed in Carnegie Hall, on the Great Wall of China, and represented the state in Germany. Their performances include traditional songs such as “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” and original music like, “Trail Dust.”
