On Sunday only, if you wear a costume you get free admission to Strataca. Rides can be added for an additional charge. A hard hat is still required to go underground, so consider that when choosing masks or wigs. Children must be at least four years old to go underground.
This offer is good for adults and children wearing costumes. The staff will be in costume, too. Strataca is open 1-5 on Sunday, with the last tour at 3 p.m. This offer is good only on 10/27/2013 and is subject to availability.
Strataca/Kansas Underground Salt Museum is the only place in the western hemisphere where visitors can travel 650 feet underground into a working salt mine. Travel underground in a state of the art, six-million-dollar hoist, and emerge 90-seconds later into salt layers formed 275 million years ago.
Listed as one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas and located in Hutchinson, Kan., Strataca has vast rooms left when salt was mined. The walls still sparkle with salt crystals. For more information, visit UnderKansas.org.
