The Hutchinson Theatre Guild will be holding auditions for the first production of its 2014 Season on January 4 and 5 at their new facility Stage 9, at 9 S. Main in Hutchinson’s downtown business district.
The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith has roles available for two women between the ages of 40 and 70, a man in his late 20s, 30s or 40s and a character which can be played by either a man or a woman aged late teens and up. The Kitchen Witches is best described as:
Martha Stewart meet Jerry Springer! Isobel and Dolly are two cable cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years. When Isobel and Dolly are faced with either joining forces or being out of work, The Kitchen Witches are born. As Dolly’s long-suffering TV-producer son Stephen tries to keep the two feuding hosts from killing each other, twists and turns keep the laughs coming all night long.
Auditions will take place on January 4 from 9 am – 12 noon and 2:00 – 5:00 pm and on January 5 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Auditions will consist of actors reading short scenes from the play. A cast list will be posted on Monday, January 6, no later than 12 noon with rehearsals to begin that same evening at 6:30 pm. Performances are February 13-15, 2014 and February 20 – 22, 2014 at 7:30 pm and February 16 and 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
All interested actors should bring their schedules and conflicts to let the director know when you are available to rehearse. If you have previous acting experience, please bring a headshot, resume and/or your experiences to share with the director.
