Historic Building Workshop in Hutchinson on April 11

historicLOGO_edited-1Maintaining your historic home or building without breaking the bank is a workshop in Hutchinson that will feature two preservation experts. The workshop will be April 11, 2014, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It’s at the American Legion Hall, 730 W 4th Avenue.

The workshop will include Mark Liebman, a Masonry and Timber Expert; and Bob Yapp, a Historic Residential Construction Expert. The workshop is sponsored by the City of Hutchinson Landmarks Commission and the Kansas State Historical Society.

Bob Yapp, Preservation Resources, has dedicated his career to community planning, central city revitalization, historic preservation and woodworking. Bob has been involved in the restoration and rehabilitation of more than 150 historic properties, many of them award winning. He has had his own newspaper column and has hosted a public radio program, “About Your House with Bob Yapp”. He presently operates and teaches at “The Belvedere School for Hands-On Preservation” in Hannibal, Missouri and has traveled throughout the U.S. giving keynote speeches, seminars and workshops on historic preservation.

Mark Liebman, Case Forensics, has provided forensic investigation and restoration consulting services for the past 25 years. He is experienced with a diverse array of materials, with a professional focus in historic masonry. Mark has worked on restoration projects from coast to coast, including such projects as the Washington State Legislature Building and the St. Jude Church in Miami, Florida. A published author, Mark has also made presentations to various groups, including the ISRM Commission for Preservation of Ancient Sites, in Stockholm, Sweden (2012) and the Kansas State Preservation Conference (2010).
