The Third Annual Shamwalk is Saturday, March 15, 2014. Shamwalk is a socializing and networking opportunity for community members, and will encourage participants to patronize several downtown restaurants. It is a project of The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce along with the Downtown Hutchinson Revitalization Partnership.
“We’re looking for this event to grow more each year. It’s a great day for downtown businesses, and a fun day for participants,” Lori Webb, Director of Sales and Membership for the Chamber said.
This year’s event will feature a kick-off party held at Memorial Hall, 101 S. Walnut, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to stop in at all participating locations between 3:00-6:00 p.m. There are several opportunities to win prizes throughout the day, and many participating locations will offer food and drink specials.
Registration is $20 at www.hutchchamber.com, and includes an official 2014 Shamwalk t-shirt, admission to the kick-off event, and a chance to win prizes. Participants can also register in person at the Chamber, 117 N. Walnut. Registration will increase to $25 on March 6. Register before then to be guaranteed a t-shirt.
This event is the first in a series of downtown pub crawl events organized by the Downtown Hutchinson Revitalization Partnership. The next event will be held Saturday, June 21 and will be a Smallville theme, a take on Clark Kent’s (as known as Superman) hometown. On August 2, there will be a blues themed event, and on Nov. 1 a Halloween themed pub crawl.
